Ieranto Bay is on the extreme top of Sorrento Coast, from Capri Island and Amalfi Coast.
In Ieranto Bay there are some ruins gone back to 13.000 years ago. The name it’s means in greek “holy land”. In fact in the antiquity this place was sacred: it was here that the Greek temple dedicated to the sirens. In the Classic Era the temple was dedicated to Atena. In the firt years of 900 Ieranto become an industrial town for lime mineral processing.
From the 1986 the Bay is managed by a private trust (F.A.I) but access is on any case free.
The path to reach the Bay start to Nerano ( little town near Masa Lubrense): from the square follow the road. Afeter few metres you find on your left the bar local and on your right a little parking and the path. After After a few meters uphill the red-white signs show you the way up to Monte S.Costanzo, keep following the yellow signs along the main path.The path offers magnificent view over Marina del Cantone, Capri and Faraglioni, Punta Campanella, Amalfi Coast and Punta Licosa. Arrived at the fork you can go up to Montalto Tower o can go down to the little beach of Capitello. Here you can have a swing in the crystalline sea or also praticse diving.
